Miracles at Work: Turning Inner Guidance Into Outer Influence

The first book of 2026 is a pretty good indication of what’s occupying my mind. This book by Emily Bennington is wonderful whether you’re familiar with The Course in Miracles or not, but even a small familiarity might be a bit helpful. Here’s how this book helped me: a reminder that work is a place for growth not just in terms of personal career growth but spiritual growth. That it can be important to step back and remember the larger story around something, to acknowledge that your perception might not reflect right-thinking and then a reminder to act with love toward even the most infuriating of colleagues.

Where the book fell short for me is just that I wanted more examples. I know not every situation is the same but the few examples there were really helped me to put together how I could apply the Course in Miracles ideas around perception and miracles to difficult workplace situations. As a student of the course I know in theory how I need to approach challenging people and situations, I just need more practical advice for how that might look. I guess I need a little but more than “pray for their happiness.” I need to know, okay, while I’m praying for happiness how do I offer this and act in love while ensuring I have a Texas-sized distance between us.

All-in-all, though, recommended for anyone who has found that their job has become imprisonment rather than liberation and needs help just focusing on doing the damn job and going home.
